Glenn van Straalen has scored a 18th place in today’s World Supersport race at Circuito San Juan Villicum in Argentina aboard his Kawasaki ZX-6R. Not the results he was hoping for after a weekend full of challenges.

The race in Argentina was a very special one for Glenn and EAB Racing Team as exactly one year ago the adventure started here for rider and team. For this reason Glenn was looking forward to the race at Circuito San Juan Villicum.

“We had a good weekend at Magny-Cours but with a disappointing end and we needed points and that was at least the goal for this race.”

Despite his strong words Friday was a big challenge, but beyond Glenn’s control as the track in Argentina was very treacherous because of a thin layer of sand.

Glenn: “It was the same as last year on Friday at Circuito San Juan Villicum. The ideal line was clean, but there was also a lot of dust on the track. It took some time to adjust, but we ended FP2 with a good feeling.”

Unfortunately, the important Superpole ended on Saturday in a big disappointment for Glenn and his team.

“We ended FP3 with a good feeling and we were ready for qualifying but in the outing lap of the Superpole we got a technical problem, so I couldn’t set a lap time. It was a big shame that I had to start the race from the last position of the grid.”

During the race Glenn came close to world championship points, but at the end he had to be satisfied with a no point result.

Glenn: “After the start I was stuck in the group for a while, but after I passed these riders I was able to ride a good pace. I came to P16, but I made a small mistake under braking. A mistake is punished hard here, because the track is very slippery outside the ideal line. I think we can be satisfied with our pace in this race.”

The next race is in two weeks’ time at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar. The last race day of the year is on Saturday with practice sessions the two days before.
