Glenn van Straalen has scored a DNF in today’s World Supersport race at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari di Imola in Italy. Glenn started the race from 14th of the grid and was able to hold his position in the first corners. With circumstances very tricky because of drops of rain even before the start of the race, Glenn had some difficulties and lost a couple of places in the early stages of the fifth World Supersport race of 2019.

A big shame as Glenn and his EAB Racing Team made in Superpole a big step with the Kawasaki ZX-6R. In dry conditions, the goal for both rider and team was a top-10 but at the end Van Straalen had no other option than entering the pits with some laps to go because of a technical issue.

Glenn: ‘The outcome of today is not what we expected as we made a big step yesterday and I was very happy with the Superpole and the grid position for today’s race. My start was good but in the first part of the race I lost too many positions and I had to start all over again. I was still able to find a good rhythm but it was a hard race and with a couple of laps to go I had to retire because of a technical problem. It’s a shame to end a weekend on this way as we made some big steps.’

Next race weekend will be at Jerez in Spain from June 7-9.
