Glenn van Straalen has scored a superb ninth place at Assen during the fourth World Supersport race of 2019, not only his home race but also the home race of his EAB Racing Team. Glenn started the race from P13 after a strong Superpole. Unfortunately the Superpole session was red-flagged after oil on track and by the time the track was cleaned up, snow and hail made it slippery.

Glenn: ‘My pace in the Superpole was good and I was happy with many laps in the 1’39. I only missed that perfect lap.’

On Sunday Glenn started very well and was in a strong tenth position, but couldn’t hold the pace of the leaders and lost one place in the third lap. Halfway through the race he got into an intense Kawasaki fight with Ayrton Badovini and Honda rider Jules Danilo. In the last lap he not only won the fight, he also ended the race in a very impressively ninth place as more and more riders got in trouble.

Glenn: ‘I’m really happy with my race in front of my home crowd. My start wasn’t good, but I was able to recover a lot of places in the first corners and that was so important for the rest of the race. I couldn’t follow the leaders, but had a wonderful fight with two other riders. It was really nice to fight with very experienced riders and I learned a lot. At the end I won this fight and that makes it even better. I’m really happy with my ninth place and would like to thank my EAB Racing Team.’
