Alex Schacht has started the final European Superstock 1000 round of 2017 in a thirtieth place after the first two free practice sessions on a re-asphalted Jerez de la Frontera in Spain. But this result isn’t the total Friday story for Alex. In the morning he was in twentieth place (1’45.928) and only 1.916 after the fastest time of the first free practice.
During the afternoon Alex wasn’t able to improve his time after a mistake in the strategy. As a result of this mistake, Alex didn’t make a lap on new tyres. Despite the challenging second free practice session, both rider and team are confident that improvement will be possible on Saturday and Sunday and the goal is still the same: end the last race of the year on a high!
Alex: “Today was a really difficult day, but the first session was really good! I was in the top-10/15 until the last eight minutes. The second session was really bad for two reasons. First our tyre was burning up and after that we made a mistake in our strategy and because of that, I wasn’t able to use a new tyre. There is no reason to panic and for tomorrow we should have perfect conditions to fight for a top-15 spot!”
